WHAT TO EXPECT
The Hearing Evaluation is more than just a hearing test at Hear & There. It is our first opportunity to get to know you as a person and build a relationship for your journey to better hearing. The first appointment has three objectives:
let's get to know you
-
We will ask questions regarding your previous and current medical history. Be sure to bring a list of your current medications and any other pertinent medical information, especially related to your ears and/or hearing.
-
Review some specific areas in your life where you may not hear as well as you want to
-
Discuss your goals for your hearing journey
-
Meet your loved ones. We ask that you bring one to two family members or friends that can help you on your hearing journey.
let's look at your hearing
Our hearing assessment consists of:
-
Otoscopic examination of outer ear, ear canal, and eardrum
-
Earwax cleaning (if necessary)
-
Assessment of middle ear/eardrum function
-
Assessment of hearing using pure tones and speech
-
Measurement of hearing abilities in noisy environments
We know a hearing assessment may create some apprehension. If you have any concerns, please let our office know when scheduling so we can best accommodate your comfort level.
let's look at your results
We are committed to ensuring you understand the results of your hearing assessment. We will explain the purpose of each portion of the assessment and the status of your hearing.
-
If hearing loss is diagnosed and hearing aid technology may be beneficial for you, we will proceed with a Hearing Technology Consultation to discuss solutions in the same appointment.
-
A copy of your results will be provided for your medical records.
